Nutritional Epigenetics: Hope for Autism

image

This family shared their story of hope in dealing with Autism.

Our second son, Gray, was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 1/2 years old. He was non-communicative and had lots of sensory issues. For two years prior to finding Reliv we tried everything anyone told us about – all kids of therapies, special diets, allergy testing/elimination treatments, etc. I even lived 1/2 of each week for an entire year away from home looking for answers for him and nothing made a profound difference. We knew that therapy was essential but we didn’t think he was retaining anything he was being taught, because he couldn’t recall any of the information.

We put him on the Reliv products, within a few days I started quizzing him and noticed that his brain was functioning faster. His processing delay had already improved and he was recalling the information he had been taught in therapy. His communication started very simply, but he began answering questions appropriately for the first time in his life. The very next week his language doubled, his eye contact got better, his social skills improved and in 5 weeks he was a profoundly different child.

Our son will always have Autism, but Reliv is helping his body function at a higher level. He speaks normally now, has friends, eats a wide variety of foods, and his sensory issues are almost non-existent. He doesn’t sit around and plug his hears and hum all the time, like he used to…he plays the trumpet in the band. We will be forever thankful to the person who cared enough about our family to send us “hope” in a can.

Autism and Nutrition

Patricia Stewart, Ph.D., R.D., director of Bionutrition for the CTSI at URMC, examined the nutritional intake of children with autism, including supplement use. It is important to understand how the significant food related behaviors and aversions that children with autism impact their current and future health. Her abstract shows that two-thirds of children with autism are taking supplements, twice the rate in the general pediatric population (32 percent). She reports that the nutrients most likely to be deficient in the children, were not included in adequate amounts in the supplements used. For example, most of those supplements contain vitamin D (97 percent), few contain choline (37 percent), vitamin K (11 percent) and potassium (8 percent). None contained any fiber, which is important for bowel health and is eaten in limited amounts by picky eaters. Source: Science Daily.

Epigenetic Nutrition

Reliv Now for Kids can help bridge the nutritional gap. Essential vitamins, minerals and micronutrients give growing bodies what they need to thrive. Advanced ingredients boost energy and mental performance. And LunaRich, Reliv’s epigenetic superfood, maximizes the documented health benefits of soy.

It is noteworthy that lunasin (Lunarich) is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, reaching the brain. At 3 hrs post-gavage, approximately 30% of the total oral dose of lunasin is absorbed.

There is Hope.

The story of Gray is an example of the transformative effects of optimal nutrition in reversing autism.
